As an Associate Director at Connected Places Catapult (2018-2025), Julian brokered and collaborated on a BBC News Talking Business episode featuring Catapult Chair Prof Greg Clark CBE FAcSS. The 30 minute episode, inspired by the 2024 Connected Places Summit, was broadcast multiple times in the UK and globally. Julian brokered the Catapult's support to the pedestrianisation of London's historic Strand-Aldwych district and was commissioned to write a two part essay on how national postwar economic planning contributed to the former decline of postwar Britain's then-richest city region (per capita) - Birmingham & the West Midlands. He has also brokered, developed or supported relationships for this and other clients with government ministers, parliamentarians, captains of industry, scientists and engineers. This has included research and preparation for parliamentary committee appearances and submissions.

In his current and previous parliamentary roles, Julian has secured hundreds of TV, radio, print and online features which have influenced public debate and policy. He has had key production roles on the BBC's overnight live TV broadcast production teams for the 2024, 2019 and 2017 General Elections. Julian has been a consultant producer for the Smart Money program on Australia's Sky News Business Channel, working out of the London Stock Exchange studios.

He has worked with many other internationally-known public figures.

During his previous parliamentary research and media officer roles, Julian was voted House Magazine Parliamentary Researcher of the Year Awards Overall Winner - with his projects featured on radio (ID Cards research) and television (transport and disabilities features).
A significant focus of the BBC's two-part documentary, 'Raising The Armada', was Julian's role in, and research for, proposing the revival of Prince Albert's scheme to recreate the lost Armada Tapestries as paintings. Before the 1834 Fire, these were as iconic a symbol of Parliament and the nation as Big Ben is today. The Armada Paintings are now bolted to the walls of the House of Lords Prince's Chamber, in compartments intended for them by Prince Albert.
Between 2002-2012, Julian served four distinguished Convenors of the 180 Independent Crossbench Peers in the House of Lords, including Marshal of the Royal Air Force Lord Craig of Radley (former UK Chief of the Defence Staff) and The Rt Hon Lord Williamson of Horton (former EU Commission Secretary General).
Julian’s expertise in civil society and public policy has continued to grow since supporting Crossbench Peers with leadership experience drawn from every part of UK and global civil society: the City of London, the Civil Service and the Commons; industry, the judiciary and science; in broadcasting, climate change research and diplomacy, as well as education, engineering, IT, space, and more.
